Ear Infections and Allergies

Ear infections generally follow chronic allergies and Ebbey is no exception. Prescribed ear wash helped a bit, but soon began inflaming the outer ear skin. Apple cider vinegar diluted with several parts water also irritated Ebbey's skin, though her allergy to apples may be related.

In desperation, I switched over to more holistic remedies which work slower, but do not produce the same adverse reactions. Dr. Goodpet Ear Relief seems to work well by loosening up the wax which the dog then shakes out. This may not work well for longer eared breeds as severe ear shaking can lead to hematomas.

As Ebbey's allergies will never be fully controllable, ear inspections and cleaning are now a part of Ebbey's daily routine. She is very good about it, even turning over if asked. Dark wax build up is gently removed with cotton batting, then a few drops of either olive oil, Dr. Goodpet or another ear oil product. After massaging the ear for a few minutes, then some non petroleum ointment is applied if the ear skin is irritated or Ebbey has been scratching the ear. Search Dog's Raven Poster

Playing the search dog, Ebbey has a leading role in the eerie action thriller Search Dog's Raven. Her character is paramount, because the key to unlocking the film's unique twist turns out to be the 'Search Dog's...Raven.
