Allex Michael: UPDATE: After more extensive research, and now that Ebbey is allergic to almost all food, I am now underfeeding and trying to feed more raw again. She now gets 3 ounces (100 to 115 grams) of meat with one to two fruits or vegetable servings, three times daily, plus calcium and supplements. Daily fruits and vegetables total 1 to 1.5 cups for the three meals plus occasional snacks. Each meal gives her 20 to 25 grams of protein, plus meat or liver snacks which total 70 to 85 grams of protein a day. I have also cut way back on her brown rice, cornmeal or millet consumption, limiting these kinds of carbohydrates to once daily or less. I also am limiting her daily broccoli to 4 tbsp or less per day as too much broccoli may not be healthy for some or all dogs.

Because of Ebbey's extensive allergies, I've chosen to keep her on a home made food diet. Someone stole my weigh scales, so Ebbey bulked up a lot over this winter. It's important to keep an eye on both the amount you feed your dog and how much they weigh. Ebbey is now back to 86 pounds (39 kg).

Split into three meals, I feed Ebbey around 18 ounces (500 grams) of cooked meat per day. plus about 2 ounces (60 grams) of raw meat per day. She also gets one cup or less of brown rice or millet plus 1 to 2 tbsps of one fruit and a few minced tbsps of Broccoli plus other veggies I have available that she can eat. If we have popcorn, she will eat it sometimes. I've tried giving Ebbey larger rawhides but they don't seem to agree with her, so I just give her half a tiny one as a treat several times daily. I cut the six inch (15cm) long pencil thick rawhides with tree trimmers. Search Dog's Raven Poster
